Montesa was born in 1944 in Spain as a result of two pioneers. They began by building a small batch of machines based on the very successful Motobecanes during that period. The Montesa after some initial problems, created wonders with its machinery and developed one that is both easy to ride and engine efficient. The engineers developing the bike conducted a lot of experiments in bringing out the perfect product in the quest for the ideal balance of power. The moneymaking bike that they produced was called the Brio 80, the street bike of the fifties. It is believed that they produced more than 12,000 bikes.
