The very basic requirements for a motorcycle itself to be road legal are the cleanliness of windscreen and mirrors, all lights working and the brakes being in good shape. The bike also needs to have a tyre tread of at least 1mm across the middle three-quarters and around the entire tyre. In order to be allowed to ride it the vehicle would also need to be registered, insured, the vehicle tax paid for, a valid MOT test and a driving licence.
