With the creation of Royal Enfield, a classic was born in the mid 19th Century England. The bike with its chugging sound and royal looks won the hearts of all bike lovers. Enfield manufactured the company's own engines: a 225cc two-stroke single and a 425cc V-twin during the war period. Another startling fact was that, the models during this period produced 600cc complete with inlet-over-exhaust, two-speed countershaft gearbox and chain final drive. Apart from that they produced closed valve gear and a hand-operated oil pump. In between 1913 and 1914, Enfield V-Twin, devised the technique of visually checking the oil. They made the world's first bike with 675cc in-line 3-cylinder 2-stroke engine in 1915. The bikes became a craze and still remain a rage in the hearts of many with the speed it provides and the thumping of the engine creates a thrill in the hearts of motorcycle enthusiasts. The twin benefit of improved performance and engine efficiency has pitched the sales of the bikes over the years.
